Regulatory Projects
Regulation is never easy to do well.
I enjoy finding practical solutions to complex regulatory challenges and helping other regulators do the same.
Here are some examples of current and past projects.
Assessing progress and trends in securities supervision
Co-authored paper for the IMF on progress and emerging challenges in securities and derivatives market regulation and supervision globally and carried out Financial Sector Assessment Programme (FSAP) assessments of major jurisdictions, including China and the US.
Helping supervisors navigate climate transition
Authored practical guide for securities supervisors on navigating climate change and 'green' finance and led regional seminars for supervisory authorities on climate-related standards and their use in supervision.
Read the guide for securities supervisors here.
Building tailored technical assistance
Participated in IMF FSSRs and other technical assistance work to provide tailored diagnosis and delivery of assistance to jurisdictions in Asia, Africa, central America and the Caribbean.
Outputs are tailored to individual authorities and confidential unless the requesting authority chooses to publish. Ranging from support drafting new regulations, to a diagnostic roadmap for short- and medium-term supervisory capacity development. Here is one published example.
Harnessing regtech and data for women's financial inclusion
Principal author for Toronto Centre's USAid-funded engagement to develop tools for regulators to enhance their use of sex-disaggregated data and regtech, and help regulators take the next steps towards gender-aware supervision.
